Bemidji
- In October 2014, a Country Inn & Suites opened next to the George W. Neilson Convention Center. It features 500 square feet of meeting space, complimentary hot breakfast and a 24-hour fitness center.
Bloomington
- The JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America is scheduled to open in November 2015. This 14-story, 342-room luxury property is connected to the Mall of America and plays a part in the Mall’s $325 million expansion project. It will feature a 15,414-square-foot divisible grand ballroom and a 518-square-foot boardroom among a meeting-space total of nearly 20,000 square feet. Hotel amenities will include a French-American restaurant and bar with outdoor patio, plus a fitness center, pool and executive lounge.
- The $25 million AC Hotel by Marriott Mall of America will be located next to the Mall of America and feature 148 rooms in its five stories. This property will offer a contemporary eclectic interior and include a restaurant, coffee shop and parking garage; opening is scheduled for late 2016.
- In summer 2015, a $15 million Marriott TownePlace Suites will open at the Mall of America. This pet-friendly extended-stay property will feature 118 rooms and amenities such as fully equipped kitchens and free breakfast and high-speed Internet.
- The 302-room Hyatt Regency Bloomington Central Station hotel will open in spring 2016 as the centerpiece of the city’s Bloomington Central Station mixed-use development, a transit-oriented, mixed-use urban village on the Metro Blue (Hiawatha) light-rail line. It will feature 17,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction space, including an 8,250-square-foot ballroom, plus a three-meal restaurant, bar and lounge, indoor pool, fitness center, market/coffee shop, and business center.
- A 107-room Home2 Suites by Hilton will open in December 2015 at the intersection of Penn Avenue and American Boulevard. Rooms will feature full kitchens, and the pet-friendly property will offer a saline pool with a patio, business zone with complimentary wireless high-speed Internet and wireless printing, complimentary breakfast offerings, and a Spin2 Cycle combination laundry/fitness room that lets guests do laundry while working out.
- A 100-room Hampton Inn will open in November 2015 at I-494 and Normandale Boulevard in West Bloomington, and will offer 580 square feet of meeting space, a heated indoor pool and a whirlpool, plus a complimentary hot/cold breakfast buffet and high-speed Internet access.
Duluth
- In 2014 the Park Point Marina Inn opened on Park Point, just 50 feet from Lake Superior, with 68 rooms, two suites, fitness and business centers, and a pool, hot tub and sauna.
- The Pier B Resort, a $29.1 million, 140-room hotel, is under construction on the city’s Bayfront area and is scheduled for a June 2016 opening. It will offer a spa, banquet center, 150-seat restaurant, 20-slip transient marina, and a pool overlooking Duluth’s harbor.
Mankato
- In fall 2016 the Verizon Wireless Center will complete an expansion that will double its size to a capacity of 10,000 people.
Minneapolis
- In April 2015 the Hampton Inn & Suites Minneapolis Downtown opened at 1st Avenue and 8th Street near Target Field. Connected to the Minneapolis skyway system, this property offers 211 rooms, a 50-capacity meeting room, free Wi-Fi throughout, 24-hour fitness and business centers, and a 24-hour Suite Shop for snacks.
- The former Minneapolis Boulevard Hotel in Brooklyn Center reopened as the 13-story DoubleTree by Hilton Minneapolis North following a $4 million renovation. This 174-room hotel has a 24-hour business center, indoor fitness center and swimming pool, and 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
Rochester
- In July 2015 construction will begin on a full-service Hilton hotel, which will be completed along with Rochester’s new, dedicated convention center in March 2017. This 22-story mixed-use building will have 270 guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
St. Paul
- A Hyatt Place is scheduled to open in spring 2016 as part of an extensive, $78 million redevelopment of St. Paul’s Eugene McCarthy Post Office Building downtown. The hotel will occupy floors 2–5 of the building, while apartments will take up the upper floors of this 17-story tower, and a restaurant will occupy the ground floor.
