Coming this fall, the Hyatt House New Orleans/Downtown will be the city’s first Hyatt House property and will feature 194 studio, one- and two-bedroom suites as well as a prime location adjacent to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Newly opened in New Orleans’ Warehouse Arts District, steps from the Morial Convention Center, the Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery started life as an 1850s seaport warehouse but has been artfully restored with an airy modern design while keeping historic details such as hardwood floors and exposed brick walls.
Making its debut in the city’s central business district in March, the Aloft New Orleans Downtown offers 188 guest rooms and six meeting spaces totaling 3,600 square feet. The French Quarter and three streetcar lines are nearby.
The Wyndham New Orleans-French Quarter recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that included 374 guest rooms as well as the building’s exterior and improvements to the parking garage.
Complementing the recent renovation of its legendary Fountain Lounge restaurant, the Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel welcomed Mark A. Majorie as chef de cuisine. The New Orleans native has held various culinary positions throughout the city as well as in Florida and the Caribbean.
The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is embarking on a major renovation aimed at revitalizing the city’s riverfront, a project representing the largest single private investment in New Orleans since the 1984 World’s Fair. Set on 47 acres upriver from the center, the Convention Center District Development Project calls for construction of a new headquarters hotel, a linear park along Convention Center Boulevard, outdoor entertainment, arts and cultural venues, and new retail and housing options. A completion date was not available at press time, though it is hoped the new hotel will open in time for the city’s 300th birthday celebration in 2018.
Le Meridien New Orleans debuted early this year with 410 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of stylish meeting and event space.
