  • Last year the 218-room Residence Inn Los Angeles, L.A. Live and 174-room Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. Live opened in the heart of downtown, directly across the street from the L.A. Live sports and entertainment complex and a block down from the Los Angeles Convention Center. The new hotel development is comprised of 11,754 square feet of meeting space and 5,100 square feet of restaurant space.
  • Hotel Figueroa, a boutique inn dating to the 1920s, is planning a $30 million renovation to bring back its original Spanish Mediterranean decor and update its guest rooms, which will reportedly be reduced from 285 to 270 rooms. The hotel also offers 20,000 square feet of event space.
  • Wilshire Grand Center is in the works for downtown. Slated for a 2017 debut, the hotel will stand 73 stories tall and feature 900 rooms, 400,000 square feet of office space, new shops and restaurants. It will be the tallest building west of Chicago.
  • An expansion is in the works for JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, with completion slated for 2018. Plans call for a new 755-room hotel tower that will be directly connected to the existing 878-room JW Marriott L.A. LIVE and 123-room Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles hotels by means of a bridge across Olympic Boulevard. Combined, the complex will contain 1,756 guest rooms and over 200,000 square feet of function space, making it the second-largest hotel in California.
  • Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles, operated by InterContinental Hotels Group, is scheduled to open by the end of next year. The 18-story, 350-room hotel is being built as part of the $1 billion Metropolis mixed-use development and will be blocks away from the Los Angeles Convention Center and Staples Center. Phase I of Metropolis is slated for completion in fall 2016, while Phase II is slated for 2018.
  • Mama Shelter Los Angeles, a 70-room boutique hotel located in Hollywood, is slated to open this month. Downstairs offers a free-flowing reception area, lobby, bar and a restaurant from chef Benjamin Bailly (known for his L.A. hot spots Petrossian and Fraiche), while upstairs will feature an outdoor rooftop gym.
  • A 112-room Hampton Inn & Suites is scheduled to open in Hollywood in April 2016. The former Vagabond Inn will offer a cafe and swimming pool.
  • The Garland, in North Hollywood, will debut a new look this summer with 243 renovated guest rooms and 14 suites, updated public spaces, the addition of a new outdoor garden, and a completely redesigned signature restaurant, The Front Yard.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites Glendale is in the works and will have 94 guest rooms. It is scheduled for completion in spring 2016. The hotel will feature an elevated outdoor pool deck, lounge seating surrounding an outdoor fireplace, and a fitness center.
  • Residence Inn Pasadena is in development as a 144-room, five-story property with a completion date slated for January 2016.
