Key Notes: Ahead of the Trends (July 2015)

Welcome to our annual Meetings Trendsetters issue, in which we highlight some of the top planners, suppliers and educators that drive our industry forward.

To compile the list, we reached out to last year’s Trendsetters, as well as opened up a page on the website where readers could enter in their choices for this year’s movers and shakers, along with their reasons for the nomination. Finally, our editors tapped some key contacts to see who they might have in mind for the honor.

While the end result is by no means an exhaustive list—there are certainly more than 22 Trendsetters shaping the industry this year, of course!—we think it represents a good cross section of some of the brightest lights in the industry.

Turn to page 13 to see who is on this year’s roster, and thanks to all of the Trendsetters who played along by sending some “fun,” casual shots. I always think these types of lists can veer into such formal territory, and we’re a “people business,” so why not show off the less-serious side of our friends in the industry?

Live in 2015!
If you haven’t already, make sure to check in on the 2015 lineup of Meetings Focus Live! events, our educational hosted buyer programs that show off key destinations, and at the same time dole out some interesting educational content that can garner some of those all-important CEUs for your CMP accreditation.

A highlight of this year’s educational content is Janine Driver’s presentation.

You may have seen this New York Times best-selling author—and one of this year’s Trendsetters!—on the TODAY Show or Dr. Drew Show, where this “human lie detector” and former ATF agent shares her body language secrets. It’s a session you won’t want to miss, especially when it comes to sharpening your negotiation skills!
