Upgrades & Openings: South (July 2015)

Florida
The Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami debuted in June as a 105-room lifestyle hotel bringing the first Hyatt Centric-branded hotel to Miami Beach. Amenities include a swimming pool, cocktail bar and a Spanish-Mediterranean restaurant offering a locally sourced menu. The property also offers a boardroom on the second floor for meetings and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Following its recent sale, the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld will be under new ownership and undergo extensive renovations. Upgrades to the 1,004-room hotel will include revamped guest rooms, meeting space, public areas and resort grounds, and the new ownership will add approximately 30,000 square feet for meetings and events, featuring several large ballrooms, an outdoor event pavilion as well as prefunction spaces. The estimated time of completion is in 15 to 18 months.

Currently, the property features 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Georgia
Sonesta ES Suites Atlanta Perimeter Center is sporting a redesign that provides guests all the amenities of a small apartment. The 122 newly redesigned one- and two-bedroom suites range from 442 square feet to 687 square feet. Hotel amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, an outdoor pool and a fitness center. The newly renovated boardroom can accommodate 10 guests.

North Carolina
SREE Hotels acquired the 274-suite Embassy Suites Charlotte and plans an $8 million renovation to upgrade the interior and exterior, including all guest suites, the meeting/banquet space, lobby and atrium, as well as integrating a new food and beverage outlet into the atrium area. The eight-story hotel provides 8,597 square feet of space for up to 400.

Texas
The 429-room Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa completed a multimillion-dollar, property-wide transformation featuring all-new guest rooms and suites, transformed Club Level guest rooms and Club Lounge, enhanced meeting spaces and an all-new lobby bar. The hotel also added two first-floor meeting spaces, a screening room for social gatherings and a boardroom for meetings.

Hilton Garden Inn San Antonio at the Rim recently opened with 137 guest rooms and more than 3,154 square feet of flexible meeting space. The property offers complimentary Wi-Fi.

The Sam Houston Hotel recently joined Hilton’s Curio Collection, which showcases unique properties. Built in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the iconic 10-story building offers 100 guest rooms and suites. The hotel includes 3,000 square feet of event space. For corporate meetings, the Raven Room and Mockingbird Boardroom offer flexible configurations.

Courtyard by Marriott San Angelo opened its doors in May with 103 guest rooms and 4,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel also offers free Wi-Fi.
