Nashville and Memphis may be famous for great music and barbecue, but the two popular cities also boast some of Tennessee’s most exciting golf courses.

The following four accommodate groups seeking either a relaxed networking event or a fun and competitive team-bonding outing attached to a meal function, awards ceremony or business meeting.

In Nashville, groups will be thrilled for a few hours of play at the impressive 18-hole Gaylord Springs Golf Links, a Scottish-style, par-72 course that’s bordered by limestone bluffs and wetlands.

According to Kay Witt, chief sales officer for the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., groups report enjoying the course’s serene landscape as well as its amenities, including GPS-enabled golf carts, a driving range and practice putting greens.

Additionally, Witt says, Gaylord Springs Golf Links is an ideal location for corporate retreats and meetings. Group-friendly facilities include a covered outdoor pavilion that is well suited for pre- or post-play gatherings.

Voted the Top Public Course in Tennessee by Golf Digest and PGA.com is Hermitage Golf Course, another standby option in Nashville for groups that would like to hit the links.

The course features 26 holes on two courses and there is a professional tournament management team to assist groups with logistics, according to Witt.

Amenities that round out the Hermitage experience include an on-site pro shop, a driving range, a clubhouse and a banquet room that seats 150 people, an outdoor pavilion that seats 200, and meeting space that accommodates groups of up to 200 people.

One of the two most popular courses in Memphis is TPC Southwind, which hosts group golf outings, meetings and social events.

"Home of the PGA's FedEx St. Jude Classic, TPC Southwind is a world-class golf course with superior meeting space for your group recreation activities," says John Oros, COO and executive vice president of the Memphis CVB.

TPC Southwind hosts golf gatherings for 12 to 36 people and has four meeting rooms that accommodate up to 130 people seated.

Meanwhile, for three years running, Mirimichihas been named one of Tennessee’s best courses to play by Golfweek magazine

"Mirimichi sits on close to 300 acres, surrounded by beautiful landscapes that offer spectacular views for your group," Oros says.

The course, which is located about 15 miles north of downtown Memphis, hosts events for 10 to 300 people, including private parties, meetings and luncheons, and offers personalized instruction for attendees in the group whose swings are a bit rusty.
