Delaware
Bethany Beach Ocean Suites, located on Delaware’s Atlantic Coast, was slated to debut in early August with 112 suites, all of which have private balconies. The property also features a 1,200-square-foot spa, oceanfront dining and 4,400 square feet of meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom for up to 300, a 12-person executive boardroom and a 52-person conference room. Amenities include a signature restaurant, complimentary Wi-Fi and a saltwater pool with a retractable roof.
Massachusetts
The 1,054-room Boston Park Plaza is undergoing a $100 million renovation to its guest rooms and suites, with the first two phases already complete. Phase three of the renovation is scheduled to begin in November and slated for completion by June 2016. In addition, Boston Park Plaza is gaining an additional 6,000 square feet of renovated meeting and prefunction space. Another addition is STRIP by Strega, a 5,700-square-foot steakhouse concept by Boston-based restaurateur Nick Varano.
New York
The Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square Central debuted in July. The 300-room hotel offers free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, a 24-hour business center and a 425-square-foot meeting space. Guests can enjoy views of New York City from the hotel’s rooftop observation deck on the 32nd floor.
The Time Hotel in Times Square is undergoing a floor-to-ceiling renovation and redesign of its lobby, restaurant and 193 guest rooms and suites. There is also a redesign in the works of its public spaces, including the lounge and bar areas. Renovations are slated for completion this fall.
Hilton Garden Inn Rochester/University & Medical Center opened in July with 136 guest rooms. The hotel also features four meeting rooms offering more than 3,600 square feet of space, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness center and an indoor pool.
Pennsylvania
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia will undergo an extensive renovation beginning later this year. The updates will include all-new guest rooms and meeting spaces, a refreshed lobby experience and public spaces, along with a new restaurant, bar and lounge. The hotel features 299 guest rooms and 26,000 square feet of meeting space. The multimillion-dollar project will begin in October and will be complete by spring 2016. The hotel will remain open during the renovation.
The Hyatt House Pittsburgh/Bloomfield/Shadyside opened in June in Pittsburgh’s East End. The hotel offers 128 guest rooms and features 1,100 square feet of meeting/function space for up to 120 people, including a 1,650-square-foot ballroom.
Vermont
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will manage a new boutique hotel in Manchester. The 87-room property is slated for a fall opening as The Taconic Hotel. The hotel will feature guest rooms with a variety of views of the Taconic and Green mountain ranges, as well as three stand-alone cottages. A 110-seat tavern with an additional 75 outdoor patio seats will offer wraparound porch seating. The hotel will also feature a 2,600-square-foot ballroom, along with an outdoor function venue.
