Zoom-In Q&A with the Headless Horseman

The Headless Horseman is known to haunt residents in the village of Sleepy Hollow, New York.

What makes Westchester County so “captivating” for groups?
Let me lead you into a destination in the heart of the Hudson Valley with chilling attractions that will excite the goose bumps out of executives. Don’t be scared, Westchester is the gold standard for meetings and conventions with full-service hotels prepared to host corporate and association events, educational workshops and annual conferences. Find a convenient location bordering New York City with world-class dining, teambuilding experiences and fun activities. If you dare, follow me into Sleepy Hollow to find a graveyard of mysterious treasures.

All these years of haunting visitors--how do you keep your head on straight?
My head? It is right here resting upon the pommel on my saddle. I was decapitated by a cannonball, but I’m a Hessian soldier from the Revolutionary War and take pride sharing The Legend with visitors as I ride on my horse through the village of Sleepy Hollow in Westchester. Business groups come to be thrilled by events like The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, the haunted trails of Horseman’s Hollow, and of course, scary stories of Washington Irving’s Legend and The Legend Behind the “Legend.”

What other Westchester County haunts would you recommend for groups?
Do you feel the suspense? Year-round haunts suitable for meetings and private tours—and keeping executives on their toes—include historic sites like Lyndhurst and Kykuit. Warning: guests may hear scratching on the windows! Or, venture into the dark night to experience Historic Hudson Valley programs such as the springtime garden fantasy Lightscapes at Van Cortlandt Manor or swashbuckling Pirates of the Hudson at Tarrytown Music Hall.
