Massachusetts
The Boston Park Plaza completed the first two stages of a renovation that included relocating its on-site office space and adding an additional 6,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction space to total almost 50,500 square feet. The hotel has been open since 1927 and has served as one of Boston’s iconic hotels for nearly 90 years, playing host to dignitaries such as Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Maryland
Expected to open in late 2016, the MGM National Harbor revealed the design of its 234 guest rooms and 74 suites. The resort is being designed and built to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED) Gold certification. Features will include motion sensors in each room to automatically adjust the temperature and lighting to save energy when guests are not present. The new property will feature a casino, restaurants from well-known local and national chefs, a spa and salon, high-end retail, and an entertainment theater and 27,000 square feet of meeting space.

Hotel RL Baltimore Inner Harbor debuted in August as the first of Red Lion Hotels Corporation’s new urban lifestyle brand, Hotel RL. The 130-room property, while functional, has been designed to inspire social interaction and gathering. There is a mobile app for easy check-in, to request a specific room and download an electronic key. The hotel is located less than two blocks from the Inner Harbor and has 2,400 square feet of meeting space which can accommodate up to 175.

New Jersey
The Hilton Garden Inn Wayne, less than 20 miles from midtown Manhattan, opened in August with 125 guest rooms. The hotel features almost 2,000 square feet of flexible meet space, including three meeting rooms and a 24-hour business center.

Inspired by its location in the artsy and vibrant borough, the hotel has an elegant yet edgy feel with high ceilings and exposed brick walls while the lobby features cobblestone floors. There is a meeting room for up to 100 and the hotel is nearby Barclays Center and the NYC Subway. An on-site restaurant serving American seasonal fare and a rooftop bar are scheduled to open in early 2016.

Washington, D.C.
The Hamilton Crowne Plaza completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its guest rooms, lobby and meeting space. The redesign, which celebrates and pays homage to Alexander Hamilton, added modern touches while keeping its historic elements, such as the original lobby ceiling with 14 carat gold features, original artwork and maps of Washington, D.C., monuments and sights. The blend of old and new continues into the meeting space, which has two ballrooms and five meeting rooms totaling over 6,700 square feet of function space, and can accommodate up to 700.
