South Upgrades & Openings (Oct. 2015)

Alabama
The Admiral Hotel Mobile joined Curio, A Collection by Hilton, and is embarking on a renovation project. Its 155 guest rooms, lobby, restaurants, public spaces and 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space will be included in the renovation. In addition, two new on-site dining options will be added: a cafe, Corner 251; and an upscale restaurant, Launch. The property is located downtown and close to the Mobile Carnival Museum, Fort Conde and the History Museum of Mobile.

Florida
Westin Hotels & Resorts announced it will open The Westin Daytona Beach Resort & Spa by fall 2016, its first property in the city. The beachfront resort will have 200 guest rooms and there will be a total renovation of the exterior and interior of the existing property. The Westin will feature a pool, two restaurants and bars, a spa and 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and function space. The property is located near the Daytona Boardwalk and close to the Main Street amusement area and Daytona Beach Convention Center.

Georgia
Emory Conference Center Hotel, the first LEED-Silver Certified sustainable Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, debuted its remodeled North Wing with 198 guest rooms and two suites. The property now has a total of 325 guest rooms, the Wisteria Lanes Bowling Alley & Pub and a 32,000-square-foot meeting facility that was recently upgraded. The meeting space includes the 240-seat Emory auditorium/amphitheater and the 74-seat Oak amphitheater.

The Partridge Inn Augusta joined the Curio, A Collection by Hilton. The property is known as “The Grand Hotel of the Classic South” and dates back to the early 1800s. The 143 guest rooms were renovated, as well as the sixth floor Penthouse, which can hold up to 100 people and be used for events. In addition, there is more than 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space with a grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 250 guests. For smaller meetings or breakouts, there are seven meeting rooms on-site.

Texas
The Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel reopened after a complete refresh. All 384 guest rooms were renovated along with the lobby, pool and public spaces, and Wi-Fi access is now available throughout the property. Asado Seafood & Grill, an upscale restaurant and lounge, was added to the hotel. In addition, the 21,000 square feet of meeting space and two executive levels with an executive lounge on the top floor overlooking the San Antonio cityscape were also revamped.

The Adolphus completed the renovation of its meeting and event space. Upgrades to the Grand and Century ballrooms and prefunction space included new carpeting, decor, lighting and audiovisual technology. The 422-room Dallas hotel, which opened in 1912, has 24,000 square feet of meeting space and 22 meeting rooms.

Virginia
The 300-room Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner opened and is the first newly built hotel in the city in 20 years. The property features more than 15,500 square feet of meeting space, including 11 conference rooms, terraces, three boardrooms and a 7,000-square-foot ballroom. The event space offers guest-controlled music and climate-controls, and new audiovisual equipment. The hotel is located near the Metrorail station, providing easy access to downtown Washington, D.C.
