Go traditional in Riviera Maya

Groups in Riviera Maya now have El Pueblito, a new event venue and attraction opening in the region.

Part of Mayakoba, an ecoresort that includes three hotels—a Banyan Tree, a Rosewood and a Fairmont—the space is modeled after Mexico’s historic plazas and incorporates the culture of Colonial Merida and San Miguel de Allende with the beach and jungle landscape of Mayakoba.

El Pueblito features a park with a space in the center for entertainment, shops and sidewalk restaurants that together recreate plazas seen in towns across Mexico. Groups can use this new space for events ranging from cocktail parties to concerts, with the ability to have a traditional feel while accessing the convenience of the event staff from the resort.

The 1,000-square-foot plaza includes an outdoor stage with lighting and a dance floor, and can accommodate up to 1,000. Complimentary shuttles are offered that connect the hotels to the plaza, as well as to a ferry service that navigates the resort’s six miles of waterways.
