South Kudos: The Ellis Hotel is Sustainable

The Ellis Hotel, a 127-room boutique property in downtown Atlanta, earned its Green Seal Silver certification for sustainable practices. As one of only four hotels in Georgia to be certified under Green Seal Standard GS-33 Silver, the award is based on an independent evaluation of the hotel’s features, operations and processes, such as conserving water and energy, reducing waste and using nontoxic and biodegradable products, from housekeeping to paint.

“Sustainability and the health of our guests and staff is a top priority at The Ellis Hotel,” says Kim Kleisner, general manager. “We are proud to be an industry-leader with our environmentally conscious operations and are honored to have earned the Green Seal certification for our practices. When guests stay at The Ellis Hotel, they can be sure that their accommodations are not only chic, stylish and in the heart of the downtown Atlanta excitement, but good for their health and the environment, too.”

The Ellis Hotel also offers a Fresh Air Floor, which features purified air to create an allergen- and irritant-free environment, as well as wellness rooms. These rooms offer products for relaxation, like hypoallergenic items, a natural fiber mattress topper and comforter, an air purifier, a PiMag shower system and lighting that stimulates sunlight. The property features about 1,500 square feet of meeting and event space, including the 1,200-square-foot Stoddard Room.
