West: Upgrades & Openings (Nov 2015)

Arizona
The former Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa debuted as Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock following a renovation. The full resort rebranding will be complete in early 2016. All 219 guest rooms and the lobby were redesigned to reflect the natural elements of Sedona. The Living Room, a gathering space, was also updated, and VorTech Den, a space with workstations and TVs within the Living Room, was added. Public spaces feature sculptures, paintings and pieces by local Sedona and Arizona artists. The resort has over 20,000 square feet of conference facilities, including two outdoor covered patios.

California
Bacara Resort & Spa will complete a renovation of all of its 358 guest rooms and suites. The redesign will add modern amenities and technology, but keep the Spanish Colonial look and feel of the resort. The Santa Barbara oceanfront property’s recent upgrades also included Foley wine bar, a new coffee bar, a restaurant and a poolside bar. The resort features 70,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including an executive conference center and a 211-seat screening room.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced that the 398-room Riviera Palm Springs will become a Tribute Portfolio Resort. Prior to the brand change the property will undergo a renovation that will include the addition of a new pool bar, wedding pavilion and redesigned lobby. The resort features more than 52,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 19,670-square-foot ballroom and 15,000 square feet of outdoor space.

The Westin San Francisco Airport completed a $10 million renovation. The upgrades included the redesign of the lobby, all 397 guest rooms and meeting space. The hotel features 22,000 square feet of space, including 29 meeting rooms. For smaller groups or breakout sessions, Tangent at Westin, the brand’s flexible work space that can be used by the hour, is available on-site.

Colorado
The Denver Marriott Tech Center is beginning a property-wide renovation, including the lobby, all guest rooms and the more than 50,000 square feet of meeting space. In addition to the upgrade of all 605 guest rooms, 36 extended stay suites and five extended stay executive suites will be added, featuring separate living, kitchen and sleeping spaces. Another new addition will be four breakout rooms totaling 5,000 square feet. The hotel will remain open throughout the renovations and is scheduled to be completed in September 2016.

The new, dual-brand Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Denver/Downtown is scheduled to open in November. One of the first dual-branded Hyatt properties all under one roof, the Hyatt Place is geared to business travelers and Hyatt House is residential-style for extended stays. The 361-room property will feature works from local artists and Colorado craft beers on tap. The property offers 4,800 square feet of meeting and event space and is two blocks from the Colorado Convention Center.

Oregon
The 506-room Portland Marriott Downtown recently completed a six-month transformation. Focusing on the guest rooms, the renovation included the addition of mobile workstations, spa-like showers, redesigned closets, and locally influenced art and decor. A few of the rooms even have in-room bicycle storage. A new M Club Lounge, Marriott’s reinvented Concierge Lounge, is scheduled to open this fall with new food and beverage options, providing a space to work or relax. The property features 32 meeting rooms and 44,000 square feet of event space.
