Zoom In: Q&A with Jamie Minster, co-founder, and Meagan Sullivan, co-owner, Charleston Epicurean

What is Charleston Epicurean?
With our mission of highlighting the best self-sustainable food and artisanal items that Charleston has to offer, we are a nationwide subscription service delivering monthly custom-curated boxes packed with four to six full-size artisanal gourmet goods from local producers. For the group market, our boxes are ideal for social functions and as memorable welcome or parting gifts for corporate and convention attendees. We are also developing specialized F&B tours.

What makes the culinary scene in Charleston so distinctively delicious?
Charleston’s culinary scene is an amalgam of history, ingenuity and diversity that hits on every note. The city is a culinary playground animated by approachable and welcoming chefs and restaurateurs who embrace and perpetuate true Southern hospitality and cuisine.

Where would you send groups for memorable epicurean experiences in Charleston?
The Thoroughbred Club at Belmond Charleston Place is great for cocktails and cuisine. Rarebit offers Moscow mules on tap, while Tradesman and Revelry highlight the local brewery scene. Hall’s is a high-end American chophouse, The Macintosh goes for experimental cuisine, and Hominy Grill is for traditional Lowcountry fare. Callie’s [Charleston Biscuits] and Eli’s Table are great breakfast choices, and Artisan Meat Share for charcuterie and sandwiches.
