Kansas City, Kan.
- The new Residence Inn Kansas City by Marriott at the Legends (www.marriott.com) will open in January with 108 suites and one meeting room.
- The Venue at Willow Creek opened this summer as a new space for wedding receptions, corporate meetings and upscale parties with both indoor and outdoor options. Seating is available for up to 250 guests.
- Schlitterbahn Waterpark Kansas City is in the process of opening up spaces both inside and outside for meetings and social events during off-season and after hours.
Kansas City, Mo.
- An 800-room, $300 million Hyatt property will begin construction next year and is slated to open in 2018. The property will be within a few steps from the Kansas City Convention Center in the Power and Light District, and will offer approximately 75,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 9,000 square feet of garden and terrace space, nearly 10,000 square feet devoted to a recreational facility and more than 15,000 square feet designated for retail, restaurants, bars and lounges.
- The 276-room Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn hotel complex is slated to open in March in the Crossroads Arts District. The $46 million, 10-story property will also offer 5,000 square feet of retail space.
- Several other Kansas City properties are currently in development, including a Home2 by Hilton slated to open December 2016 and a Hotel Indigo slated to open by mid-2017.
