Meeting and incentive groups in Macau will find no shortage of fun and exhilarating teambuilding and entertainment options. Here is a sampling of what can be arranged by two of Macau’s leading destination management companies, My Macau Team and DOC DMC .
Skywalk X: Located at the top of the 1,180-foot-high Macau Tower, this activity outfits participants with harnesses and gear that enable them to traverse the outer rim of the tower, taking in thrilling views that on clear days stretch all the way to Hong Kong. Instructors show participants how to walk, run and even swing over the side of the tower. Teams can even engage in Sky Drumming, pounding on drums at the edge of the tower.
While at the venue, groups can also enjoy the water and cityscape views from the observation deck or opt for such extreme sports as bungee jumping or climbing to the top of the tower’s antennae.
The Amazing Race Macau: Modeled after The Amazing Race reality TV show, groups are broken up into teams and given challenges and tasks to complete as they race around Macau’s historic district, navigating their way through roadblocks, detours and pit stops. The challenges, which typically include seeking out clues at local cultural landmarks and sampling sometimes bizarre local foods, can be customized to reflect the needs of organization.
Dragon Boat Races: The colorful spectacle of dragon boat racing on Macau’s Sai Van Lake combines a physical activity with a cultural tradition. The three-hour activity begins with introductory lessons in paddling. Then teams board the brilliantly decorated vessels in a race to different points around the lake. The activity accommodates groups of between 120 and 240 participants.
Hac Sa Beach Cleanup: Located on the island of Coloane, Hac Sa Beach is one of Macau’s most popular beaches for water sports recreation. It also routinely suffers from erosion due to typhoons and rubbish that lands on its shores. Teams are transported to the beach to participate in a cleanup effort, while also receiving t-shirts, lunch and a certificate. Part of the proceeds from the activity is donated to the Macau Environmental Foundation.
iPad Discovery Tour: A modern update to the traditional scavenger hunt, teams use iPads to get instructions to solve challenges as they explore Macau’s historic district. Each team searches for World Heritage landmarks following the directions on their iPads and maps.
House of Dancing Water: The world’s largest water-based show, this production combines a traditional folk tale with dazzling special effects in a 2,000-seat, purpose-built theater located in Macau’s City of Dreams complex.
