Located in the hip Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is scheduled to open Feb. 1, in plenty of time for the 2016 Olympics. The area is known for its stretch of beach in the city, luxury accommodations, shopping, dining and nightlife and is nearby the city’s famous Copacabana and Ipanema neighborhoods.
The 436-room hotel features three restaurants designed by Brazilian architect Arthur Casas, including and oceanfront space and a 12,400-square-foot spa.
The property offers 21,530 square feet of meeting space, which includes two multipurpose ballrooms and nine meeting rooms. Both ballrooms have their own prefunction areas and outdoor terrace spaces that total 10,000 square feet. The 8,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom can accommodate nearly 800 for a reception. The nine meeting rooms are on the Mezzanine level and feature two loft kitchens and an additional terrace.
