  • The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board launched a new stand-alone website for meeting planners, www.meetla.com, which is accessible from mobile devices and provides updated content information on hotels, group dining, green meetings, airport options and other areas. The site includes a venue search tool and an integrated Google map displaying selected venue locations, estimated distances, nearby attractions and public transportation routes. It also enables planners to contact L.A. Tourism staff directly with a click of a phone number or email.
  • An expansion is planned for the JW Marriott Los Angeles. L.A. Live  that will include a new 755-room tower connected to the existing 878-room hotel by a pedestrian bridge over Olympic Boulevard. Completion is set for 2018.  
  • The Wilshire Grand Center  is under construction in downtown Los Angeles, with completion expected in 2017. The mixed-use, 73-story development, which will be the tallest building west of Chicago, will include a 900-room hotel as well as 400,000 square feet of office space, shops and restaurants.
  • InterContinental Hotels plans to open the 350-room Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles by the end of 2016 as part of the Metropolis mixed-used development under way near the Los Angeles Convention Center.
  • Hotel Figueroa, a historic 285-room hotel near the Los Angeles Convention Center, is closed for renovation and is expected to reopen this summer. The project will update the guest rooms and include restoration of the hotel’s Spanish-Mediterranean architectural features.
  • The iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which became independently owned last spring, completed a $25 million renovation of its 298 guest rooms and suites.
  • Mama Shelter Los Angeles  opened in Hollywood in July. The hip boutique property located in the former Hotel Wilcox, dating from the 1930s, offers a chef-driven restaurant and 70 guest rooms featuring quirky decor, iMacs and customized toiletries.
  • The Dream Hollywood Hotel  is scheduled to open this spring between Hollywood and Sunset boulevards. The 179-room property will feature a rooftop pool, restaurant and lounge with a view of the Los Angeles skyline.
  • The Hotel Maya  in Long Beach recently opened the Lagunita Pavilion, a waterfront venue reminiscent of a Mayan temple that can accommodate up 600 people for a reception.
