Shopping the Magnolia State

The destinations of Inland Mississippi have plenty of retail opportunities for attendees.

In Jackson at the Mississippi Museum of Art’s Museum Store, attendees can choose from featured products of Mississippi and other gifts.

“You can find products celebrating the exhibits at the museum,” says Yolanda Clay-Moore, public relations manager for the Jackson CVB.

She adds there are many shops to explore in the Fondren district, an artsy enclave where attendees can browse clothing, various accessories and jewelry at places including Lipstick Lounge, Blithe & Vine and Fondren Muse.

At Art and Soul of the South in downtown Vicksburg, attendees will find gifts ranging from original artworks and vintage furniture to drawer knobs and handmade jewelry.

Attendees might also visit the Levee Street Marketplace in downtown Vicksburg’s Catfish Row for Mississippi-made products, including paintings by local artists.

Another store that sells Mississippi-made products is the Greenwood-based Mississippi Gift Company, which sells everything from candles and coasters to decorative pillows and note cards.

Greenwood is also home to Turnrow Book Company, where attendees will find cookbooks on Southern cuisine, signed copies of John Grisham novels and everything in between.

And in Hattiesburg, according to Kristen Brock, sales manager at Visit Hattiesburg, trendy clothing can be found at Weekender, which she says is a “funky shopping destination for women’s clothing and accessories.”
