Alberta
Marriott International announced the opening of a dual-branded Courtyard Calgary South and Residence Inn by Marriott Calgary South. The 128-room Courtyard features four executive suites and offers a business lobby feel with media pods, while the Residence Inn offers 97 suites designed for longer stays. The hotels share an indoor pool, fitness center, full-service spa and 4,690 square feet of meeting space. Located in the Seton Urban District the properties are within walking distance to restaurants, retail outlets and the South Calgary Health Campus.
California
The 289-room Doubletree by Hilton Golf Resort Palm Springs opened and includes a 27-hole golf course, tennis courts and full-service spa. Previously the Desert Princess Palm Springs Golf Resort, the property completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of the lobby, guest rooms, meeting rooms and restaurants and an addition of a new bar. The hotel offers 18,000 square feet of meeting space, including 12 meeting rooms and two ballrooms. The 7,400-square-foot Mesquite Ballroom can accommodate 1,200 guests for a reception.
Colorado
The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain completed renovations, including a remodel of all of its public corridors and guest rooms. From studio suites to three-bedroom condominiums, each of the 230 guest rooms feature new lighting, furniture, art work, carpeting and decor. The resort also expanded its Spa Anjali’s Relaxation Lounge and installed new equipment in the athletic club. The property features over 7,200 square feet of meeting space, including the 3,800-square-foot Riverside Ballroom that can accommodate 350 and be divided into four separate spaces. The ballroom opens onto the 4,000-square-foot terrace that has views of the Eagle River and Beaver Creek Mountain. The smaller 2,000-square-foot Gondola can accommodate 255 for a reception and opens to a plaza.
Nevada
ARIA Resort & Casino announced it will undergo a major expansion of its LEED Gold-certified convention center beginning in May 2016. With the expansion of a 200,000-square-foot venue, the convention center will offer more than 500,000 square feet of meeting space. Scheduled for completion in early 2018, the first level will feature an open ballroom with prefunction space, indoor-outdoor breakout rooms on the second level and a ballroom on the third level that will connect to the existing convention center. The top floor of the new space will have a ballroom with an outdoor patio that can accommodate receptions for up to 2,000. The hotel itself offers over 4,000 guest rooms.
Oregon
HRI Properties acquired the 99-room River’s Edge Hotel and Spa. A planned remodel of the guest rooms and enhancements to public spaces, the addition of guest rooms and a full renovation of the restaurant and meeting space is scheduled for the LEED Silver-certified Portland property. The hotel currently has 3,000 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate 120 people. There are three meeting rooms, an executive boardroom, an outdoor terrace, a riverside lawn and the on-site restaurant, Aquariva, offers private dining space as well.
