Scheduled for a fall 2016 opening, the new 1,000-room Marriott Marquis Houston becomes the George R. Brown Convention Center’s second headquarters hotel. Connected to the center via skybridge, the hotel will feature 100,000 square feet of event space, including a rooftop terrace with a Texas-shaped lazy river and infinity pool, and multiple rooftop lawns ideal for weddings and receptions.
Across the street, the new dual-branded Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites by Hilton will feature 300 total units, comprising 173 Hampton Inn rooms and 127 Homewood Suites. Targeting a March 2016 opening in time for the NCAA Men’s Final Four tournament, the paired property will include an open-air rooftop pool and some 6,000 square feet of meeting space.
With an anticipated fall 2016 opening, the new $67 million Hotel Alessandra will help anchor Downtown’s mixed-use Greenstreet Development, offering 225 rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space, including indoor/outdoor event deck.
Opened in October 2015, the new Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria offers 325 rooms, including 20 suites, and more than 11,000 square feet of functional space, including ten meeting rooms. An additional 7,800 square feet of lobby and gathering space provides for a wide range of meetings and events. The hotel is part of the 7.6-acre, mixed-use Galleria Plaza development, where the adjacent Hyatt Place Houston Galleria is slated to open in early 2016.
Making its debut in November 2014, the 328-room JW Marriott Houston Downtown is the artful reinvention of the historic Samuel F. Carter Building from 1910, Houston’s original skyscraper. The property offers more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space, plus restaurant and full-service bar, spa, health club and executive lounge.
