Butler County TCB hosted a Homeland Security and Human Resources in Hospitality Conference on Friday, March 4. Representatives from all seven Western Pennsylvania counties’ tourism bureaus were invited to the Atrium in Prospect, Pa. for the seminar. Community leaders, business owners and nine Butler County Sheriff Deputies were in attendance.
Topics focused on emergency preparedness in the workplace. In the current world climate, it’s important for the tourism industry to be prepared for anything. The seminar covered the topics of suspicious activity, cyber risks, active shooter, bomb-making, human trafficking and more. Representatives from the Department of Homeland Security, Steve Bicehouse, director of emergency services at Butler County Emergency Services, as well as Human Resources Specialist Dr. Eugene Gatty from Strategic People Solutions led the discussions.
