While meetings held at one of Connecticut’s beautiful inns generally translate as ample incentive for visiting groups, some planners may be operating with a budget to further "wow" attendees.
To that end, they might tack on one or more of the following experiences to the group’s itinerary.
At Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, located in Northeastern Connecticut, is a corporate driving experience during which attendees can get behind the wheel of luxury cars they may never otherwise drive. Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes models, each worth at least $180,000, are among the cars to choose from for a half-day or three-hour experience.
Another experience via a mode of transportation is available aboard the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat attraction in Essex. As groups travel through the scenic Connecticut River Valley, they will dine in a beautifully restored circa-1920s Pullman diner car, pulled by a vintage diesel locomotive.
Attendees meeting in or nearby Mystic will appreciate a waterborne pursuit. Here, groups can book a half-day or sunset cruise on the Argia schooner with Argia Mystic Cruises.
Also in Mystic is the entertaining and educational Mystic Aquarium, where groups can arrange a VIP behind-the-scenes tour as well as an intimate meeting with friendly critters. Encounter Programs with beluga whales and penguins are available for small groups that would like to interact one-on-one with these wonderful animals.
Planners can also arrange an outing to visit a number of wineries along the Connecticut Wine Trail. Tours and/or tastings are available at local wineries including Gouveia Vineyards, Jonathan Edwards Winery, Sharpe Hill Vineyard and others.
