The concept is “Ocean Drive Comes to I-Drive,” as South Beach’s popular Mango’s Tropical Cafe made its debut on Orlando’s International Drive in December, near the Orange County Convention Center.
How is Mango’s Orlando different from South Beach?
At 55,000 square feet, it’s one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country. Also, it was built for groups. They can do a total buyout of 2,000 or a private room for 20. Groups of up to 1,000 can take the entire upper level.
How does Mango’s fit into Orlando’s nightlife scene?
It’s everything people here have been looking for. There are a few clubs at the theme parks and around town, but they’re smaller. Our facility is completely indoors, so there are no weather issues.
We’re just cooler. We’re doing one of the best shows in the world.
What do you want planners to know?
People who come here for conventions have to have a good time or they won’t come back. Basically Mango’s Tropical Cafe Orlando is the most dynamic facility ever built to hold convention parties. This is the top of the food chain.
Any future plans in the works?
We bought the Walgreens next door and are building a parking garage, both for Mango’s and for people who want to park and walk I-Drive. On top will be rooftop dining. We’re creating an I-Drive entertainment district, complete with footbridges crossing the streets, and Mango’s is the heart of it.
