What’s in a Name?

After years of touting itself as minutes north of downtown Orlando, the Seminole County CVB recently made it official, rebranding as Orlando North, Seminole County Tourism. The new name is already being used in the bureau’s marketing efforts, while an updated site, www.meetorlandonorth.com, has been introduced for meeting planners.

“It’s been huge for us,” says Stephanie Hunicke, group sales manager. “You go to these tradeshows and you only have five minutes, and you spend half of it explaining who you are.

“Some people thought we had something to do with the Seminoles football team in Tallahassee,” she adds. “So the brand and destination recognition has been great for us.”

What’s new in this newly branded destination? The Seminole County Sports Complex coming in May, for one, along with new service from National Airlines and expanded schedules from Allegiant Air.
