The Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel launched the Navigator Discovery Video Series, which allows guests and groups to travel to sites, venues, restaurants and museums all without leaving the hotel.
“Many guests don’t have the time to explore places off-the-beaten path that the city has to offer,” says Kimberly Greene, general manager of the hotel. “In addition to the locations around the city, guests can learn unique facts and interesting stories about the history of the property and its architecture.”
The videos are shot on iPhones, and according to Greene, choosing the features is an organic process. The Navigator team uses the brand’s “savor, shop, sip and see” model and picks fun and interesting sites around town allowing guests to experience Providence like a local. New videos are uploaded about every two weeks and often connect the featured venue back to the hotel, whether it be a decor theme, an architectural feature or happenings at the property.
“Our Navigators are passionate about what they do and about their city,” says Greene. “And they want to share that with the guests.”
The hotel is a restored historic 1920s-era building and recent renovations include public spaces, the lobby, restaurant, its 272 guest rooms and the Capitol Boardroom. Upgrades to the more than 10,000 square feet of meeting spaces are scheduled for the end of this year.
