Spectator Hotel Showcases Southern Hospitality

The Bar, tucked inside Charleston’s The Spectator Hotel takes guests back to the liveliness of the 1920s. The 700-square-foot speakeasy bar offers a space to wind down at the end of the day, but can also be used by groups as a gathering space for events or even teambuilding.

Located one block from the Historic Charleston City Market and in the French Quarter and Market Street Districts, the hotel, which opened in mid-2015, is inspired by the glitz and glamour of the Roaring 20s and the Jazz Age.

Groups can chose to buyout the 41-room property and use The Bar for pre- or post-meeting events and gatherings, and can arrange for mixology and tasting classes; 1,200 square feet of meeting space is available at its sister properties, the adjacent French Quarter Inn or at the nearby HarbourView Inn.

In step with the bustling cocktail scene happening in Charleston, The Bar’s master mixologists use local ingredients from the South to create their own unique take on classic concoctions. The Bee’s Sneeze, a riff on the post-probation Bee’s Knees cocktail, uses local honey, lavender and orange blossoms, and rose water perfume. Another classic with a twist is the Pirates Take Manhattan, which uses Charleston’s own Red Harbour Rum along with vermouth, allspice dram and jerk-spiced bitters.
