Hilton San Francisco Union Square completed its $25 million renovation project that included upgrades to guest rooms, meeting spaces, culinary outlets and common areas. The first phase of renovations began in 2012. The property finalized a transformation of its 30,000-square-foot lobby. The latest enhancements include an overhaul of its lobby bar and culinary marketplace, Herb N’ Kitchen, which offers seasonal fare using locally sourced ingredients and is open all day, and includes a coffee bar and option for in-room delivery. The 1,919-room hotel features 134,500 square feet of meeting space, including 73 meeting rooms and a 30,000-square-foot grand ballroom.
The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation. The redesign will include its 789 guest rooms, public areas and meeting spaces. In addition, a new food and beverage program will include 3 SIXTY, a dining option incorporating a bar, lounge, restaurant and market. The hotel will offer two new ballrooms, The Cypress Ballroom and The Sequoia Ballroom, both with San Francisco Bay views. The Sequoia Ballroom will have the capability to combine with the hotel’s central atrium for larger groups. The hotel will then offer over 69,000 square feet of meeting space and be able to accommodate groups up to 2,200. Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016, the hotel will remain open during the remodel.
Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar debuted its renovated meeting spaces, lobby and all 235 guest rooms. The downtown San Diego hotel features a Spanish contemporary style as well as influences of the city like the surfboard-inspired bathroom mirrors and Mexican tile-inspired wall coverings. The property is nearby Petco Park and the convention center and features Jsix Restaurant and LOUNGESix pool deck and bar. There is 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including the 3,300-square-foot Cortez Ballroom that can accommodate nearly 400.
Mexico
The ME Cabo reopened after a $16 million renovation of all of its 162 guest rooms and public spaces. Traditional artwork, such as paintings and sculptures by Mexican artist Yuri Zatarain, are seen throughout and complement the modern redesign. New restaurants and bar concepts were added with the renovation, such as TullPu, a Peruvian restaurant. In fall, a poolside beach club offering lunch, dinner and cocktails during the day and a club with live DJs at night will debut. The hotel can accommodate groups up to 2,500 guests and the spaces include the 1,300-square-foot Evolucion room, the pool deck and oceanfront options.
Nevada
Caesars Entertainment plans to upgrade more than 4,800 hotel rooms this year at four of its Las Vegas resorts, and more than 900 rooms at three regional casinos. These resort upgrades include the transformation of the original tower at Caesars Palace to create the Julius Tower, as well as the revamp of the resort’s Augustus Tower. Additional upgrades will include Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Paris Las Vegas and Harrah’s Las Vegas. Outside Las Vegas, Harrah’s Gulf Coast, Caesars Atlantic City and Horseshoe Tunica will complete room upgrades.
Western Canada
Rosewood Hotel Georgia reopened its alfresco rooftop bar, lounge and garden terrace, REFLECTIONS The Garden Terrace. The venue will debut a new dining and design concept inspired by the flavors, colors and culture of the surrounding Pacific Northwest region and the locally sourced seasonal menu of “snack bowls” designed for sharing. Located on the hotel’s fourth floor, the space will have infinity water features and flowing art installations, and offer views of the Vancouver skyline. The hotel opened in 1927 and has 156 guest rooms and nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space. The 2,700-square-foot Spanish Ballroom opens to a promenade that offers prefunction space and can accommodate up to 350 attendees. The Tudor, Lancaster and Bowden rooms can be used for smaller meetings, private dinners and break-out sessions. The entire second floor of the hotel can be reserved for receptions up to 700 guests.
