Jonathan Crellin

BOSTON

Boston Park Plaza announced the appointment of Jonathan Crellin as managing director. In this role, Crellin will draw on nearly 30 years of experience in the luxury hotel industry and assume leadership of the historic property.

Boston Park Plaza, which is managed by Highgate, a hospitality investment and management company, is located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood and is in the last stages of its $100 million transformation that is scheduled for completion in June 2016. The renovation encompasses all 1,060 guest rooms and suites, as well as all public spaces and 50,000 square-feet of meeting space.

“Jonathan’s exemplary reputation makes him the ideal leader to take Boston Park Plaza to the next level,” said Steve Barick, CEO of Highgate. “With exceptional industry experience, specifically in the Boston market, Jonathan will be an integral part of our team, leading this high-level repositioning effort.”

Catering to a new generation of independently minded business and leisure travelers, the historic hotel has strategically rebranded itself to pay homage to Boston and capture the energy of the vibrant city. In his new role, Crellin will utilize his sales, marketing and operations management background to play a pivotal role in guest relations, operations and new business development, all the while, focusing on celebrating the hotel’s unique, storied history, as well as its future.

Most recently, Crellin held the roles of managing director and general manager at the Forbes Five-Star Boston Harbor Hotel, and served as managing director of the Boston-based hospitality consulting and asset management firm, Whetstone Partners, LLC. Prior to this, Crellin was with Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda. In 1996, he was also tapped by Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza, first to serve as the director of sales and marketing and hotel manager, and then promoted to general manager in 2003.

Crellin has won multiple accolades during his extensive career and remains heavily involved in Boston’s local community and hospitality industry. He has been a board member of several Boston foundations and associations, including Massachusetts Lodging Association, ALLY Foundation and Greater Boston CVB. He has also been a guest lecturer at University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Boston University, Johnson & Wales University and Bermuda College.
