BUFFALO 

  • Three completed major components of the “Buffalo Billion” (dollars) invested in the city’s transformation include the multiuse Canalside entertainment district; adjacent $200 million Harborcenter hockey and entertainment complex, including a 200-room Marriott; and $18 million multiuse RiverWorks sports, music and dining complex.
  • Targeting an early 2017 opening, Hotel Henry is an 88-room urban resort and conference center set within the Richardson Olmsted Complex. Presently undergoing a multimillion-dollar restoration, the 1880s Buffalo landmark is also home of the new Buffalo Architecture Center, scheduled for early 2017 as well.
  • Slated to open November 2016 in the central business district, the new 117-room Westin Buffalo will reportedly offer 7,300 square feet of versatile function space, including two ballrooms, one boardroom, and unique outdoor courtyard.
  • Currently scheduled to open in late spring 2016, the five-star boutique Curtiss Hotel revives a landmark downtown building with 68 high-tech rooms, rooftop lounge, and 120-seat fine-dining restaurant featuring a revolving bar and patio seating. Plus, Buffalo's first all-weather urban hot springs/Roman Bath experience.

NIAGARA, N.Y.

  • The former Fallside Hotel and Conference Center is slated to reopen this summer as the 197-room Doubletree by Hilton , with an extensively renovated banquet and meeting wing accommodating up to 500 people for events.
  • The new 110-room Wingate by Wyndham Niagara Falls opened in spring 2015 near Niagara Falls State Park. 
  • Set to open in summer 2016, the Niagara Falls International Railway Station and Intermodal Transportation Center will accommodate Amtrak, local buses, taxis and shuttles, plus an Underground Railroad Museum, border inspection facilities, shops and education center.
