Omaha
A $205 million project in downtown Omaha will include a new full-service Marriott hotel directly across from CenturyLink Center Omaha. Amenities at the planned 14-story, 333-room Capitol District Marriott will include 20,000 square feet of meeting space, an 11,000-square-foot ballroom, two bars, a restaurant and a rooftop swimming pool. The Capitol District, which is scheduled to open in 2017, will also include 225 luxury apartments, about 140,000 square feet of office space and 90,000 square feet of retail space for restaurants, shops and entertainment.
At press time, the 132-suite Even Hotel was scheduled to open next month (June 2016). Each guest room in the wellness-themed hotel includes exercise equipment and king-sized beds.
Omaha will add three properties to its lineup in 2016, including Fairfield Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Courtyard Omaha.
Council Bluffs
Breaking ground this spring will be Phase II of Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, featuring the River’s Edge Pavilion. The pavilion will provide a small meeting/event space for up to 60 people, complete with a catering kitchen and presentation capabilities. The facility’s rooftop deck will accommodate 100 people, and an adjacent tilted lawn will seat 400 people.
Harrah’s Council Bluffs recently completed a renovation of an area formerly occupied by a bar, converting it into a 2,600-square-foot meeting/event space featuring brand-new carpeting, wallpaper, light fixtures and audiovisual capabilities.
A 130-room Courtyard by Marriott, which will connect to the Mid-America Center, is underway.
