Planner’s Perspective: Lee Ann Barrett

What does your job entail?

I am the executive director of a professional state association. In addition to the day-to-day operation, I am responsible for budgeting and overseeing the government relations team as well as meeting planning.

What types of meetings do you hold in Branson?

We have many times held our annual state convention, which includes a business meeting, continuing education and an exhibit hall, at Chateau on the Lake. I am currently planning for our convention there in the fall.

We have also held leadership retreats in Branson at the Chateau in past years, and in a few weeks at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. We also have a convention scheduled at the Hilton/Branson Convention Center in the future.

Was anyone particularly helpful in executing your events?

Kerrie Van Sickle with the Branson/Lakes Area CVB has been exceptional to work with. She knows my time is valuable and she scheduled a whole day of activities for me to consider for our meetings. It’s a brave soul who will accompany you on a zipline on a blustery 37-degree day!

I would definitely recommend working with the Branson/Lakes Area CVB. They can help you come up with great ideas for your meeting.

What do your attendees seem to enjoy the most about Branson?

Branson works well for us since there is something for everyone to do no matter what you’re looking for. It is a great place to bring the family to the meeting.

Are there any experiences you would recommend for groups meeting in Branson?

Our last leadership retreat featured a teambuilding exercise and catered lunch with the folks at Branson Zipline Canopy Tours. Despite a gloomy day, our members had a fantastic time and were in capable hands.

How does Branson compare to other cities where you have hosted meetings?

Branson offers beautiful scenery, great hotels and great entertainment.

Would you return?

We already have future meetings scheduled in Branson and look forward to new experiences.
