Latest + Greatest: New Orleans

Marriott Hotels’ Moxy New Orleans Downtown/French Quarter recently debuted in New Orleans’ Central Business District, one of the first U.S. locations for the Millennial-focused brand which launched in Milan in 2014. The 108-room property features industrial-chic rooms with keyless entry, a coffeehouse/cocktail bar and fitness center. Aimed at next-Gen travelers, Moxy properties offer tech-enabled rooms, vibrant lobby spaces and affordable price points.

Newly opened within a vintage 1928 Art Deco building, the Ace Hotel New Orleans offers 234 uniquely designed guest rooms as well as a number of event spaces, including 4,000-square-foot Barnett Hall and twin social spaces, Barnett Music Room and Barnett Green Room, at a shared 960 square feet.

Housed near the French Quarter in a restored Creole townhouse originally built in 1845, the new Peruvian-flavored Catahoula Hotel includes 35 rooms, a rooftop terrace, a cafe serving Peruvian small plates and the Pisco bar showcasing the cocktail culture of Peru.

Starting life in 1867 as a double gallery townhouse designed by architect Henry Howard, the new Henry Howard Hotel is an 18-room luxury boutique hotel catering to groups that can take over the mansion as a total or partial buyout. Gathering spaces include a grand parlor, front porch and garden courtyard.

The historic Pontchartrain Hotel reopened in June following a resplendent makeover that brought the 1927 Garden District property into the 21st century with amenities for business and pleasure, including a panoramic rooftop and three additional dining and entertainment emporiums.

Construction has begun on a new terminal at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Set to debut in 2018, the $826 million project will feature 30 gates, a 2,000-car parking garage, a central utility plant and a ground transportation staging area.

In the meantime, the airport has added new service to Tulsa, Okla.; Pittsburgh; Jacksonville, Fla.; and St. Petersburg, Fla. on Allegiant Air along with a new flight to Los Angeles on Spirit Airlines, and will add a daily departure to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on JetBlue this September.
