Everyone loves a great feel-good story, and we’ve got one for you this issue.
Our cover piece this month profiles George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, perennially one of the top one or two meetings destinations in the U.S.
But while the story of his career is certainly fascinating, having worked at some of the most influential hospitality companies in the nation and holding leadership roles throughout the years on the boards of the top meetings and travel industry associations, his personal side will give you the warm fuzzies via his contributions to a unique charitable organization that helps children navigate very troubling times.
And while we all get caught up in the day-to-day grind of just doing our jobs, more and more of us are starting to see the forest through the trees by dedicating time and resources to helping those in need.
So what’s your story? Are you or someone you know in the meetings industry doing their part by giving back? Drop me a line at the e-mail address below my photo to let us know, and maybe we’ll share the uplifting story of your generosity in an upcoming issue.
As far as George Aguel’s story? Well, you’ll just have to turn to page 24 to see for yourself!
