Savannah
The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, home of founder of the worldwide Girl Scouts organization, has recently completed a two-year renovation, including a new library. The interactive library showcases the literary contributions made by, for and about women.
Groups can now receive private tours of the Davenport House Museum, along with refreshments and a 19th century dance demonstration, which is performed in authentic period attire.
The former Inn at Ellis Square has recently finished a $20 million renovation and has been reflagged as the Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District. The boutique hotel offers 252 guest rooms and six meeting rooms with a total of 6,000 square feet of meeting space.
The former Country Inn and Suites has recently finished renovations and reflagged as the B Historic Savannah with 101 guest rooms, 1,000 square feet of meeting space and a private boardroom.
Golden Isles
The four-story, 83-room Home2 Suites by Hilton at the McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport is currently under construction, along with a new airport terminal. The buildings will be adjacent, and the facility is set to open by the end of the year. The terminal will include 6,000 feet of space, and will include conference rooms and outdoor event space in addition to serving the airport’s passengers and staff.
Construction has begun on the Jekyll Island Club Ocean Suites, a 41-suite property with lounge area, pool, pool bar and grill, and the Astor Room for events. The Astor Room will be approximately 900 square feet and accommodate up to 120 for receptions or 69 in classroom-style. The property is slated for completion in spring 2017.
Richland Rum is expanding its operation into a second distillery in downtown Brunswick. The distillery will open in a remodeled 6,400-square-foot building by summer 2017. The distillery will turn pure cane sugar, grown in Richland, into virgin rum. A tasting room and tours will be available.
