From the Editor: The Heat Is On

This year has been a sizzling success for the Texas meetings, business and tourism sectors, as all parts of the state are seeing growth on a local scale as well as from visitors coming to explore the diverse natural, artistic and cultural elements that tie together its vast expanse.

For the current edition of Meetings Today Texas, Jeff Heilman takes us from the watery depths to the musical heights offered throughout the Lone Star State.

In his opening story “Hot for Texas,” Heilman speaks with CVBs and representatives throughout the state to document not only the expanding options as far as group venues, but also the population and business booms occurring in the many major cities and smaller towns.

For a peek at some of Texas’ most unique and inspiring meeting venues, “Lone Star Standouts” offers a fresh look at some of the hottest spots to host meetings and events. Heilman also profiles Houston chef Robert Del Grande, who recently resurrected former dining institution Cafe Annie, which had closed in 2009.

Water may not be the first element to come to mind when thinking about Texas, but as Heilman discovers in “Aquatic Solutions,” there are plenty of water-based venues and activities throughout the state, ranging from wakeboarding parks to lazy rivers.

As any music aficionado would know, Texas is an audiophile’s mecca, as Heilman notes in “Scootin’ a Boot,” which looks at the myriad music festivals and performance outlets in Texas.

For updates on new and renovated properties throughout the state, “Latest & Greatest” provides a full overview.

Also check out MeetingsToday.com for a listing of meeting facilities throughout Texas as well as more stories profiling destinations around the state.
