Massachusetts
Hersha Hospitality Trust acquired the 136-room Envoy Hotel in Boston for $112.5 million. The 136-room property is located in the city’s Seaport District, near the 516,000-square-foot Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The hotel features a 6,000-square-foot Lookout rooftop bar and 3,900-square-foot Outlook Kitchen + Bar.
New York
The Park South Hotel completed its $20 million property-wide renovation with the opening of Covina and Covina Cafe by James Beard award-wining Chef Tim Cushman and Nancy Cushman. The 131-room boutique hotel is owned and developed by Atlantic Stars Hotels & Cruises and now offers four different restaurant concepts by the husband and wife duo, along with modernized rooms, an upgraded lobby and public areas. Other on-site dining options include o ya NYC, a Japanese restaurant, and Roof at Park South, a rooftop bar with views of the city’s skyline and the Chrysler Building. Covina opened with a dining room, U-shaped bar and open kitchen while Covina Cafe offers breakfast and lunch items during the day in a separate takeaway space and then becomes an extension of the Covina dining room at night. The hotel has a 400-square-foot-library and over 1,200 square feet of meeting space, including a private rooftop meeting space and an industrial meeting room with a spiral staircase in the atrium leading to Covina. Private and semi-private dining spaces are also available at Covina, o ya NYC and Roof’s fireside lounge and umbrella areas.
Northern Virginia
Kimpton Morrison House reopened after extensive renovations and the debut of the adjacent Ashlar Restaurant and Bar. Located in historic Old Town Alexandria, just six miles from downtown Washington, D.C., the 45-room boutique hotel features literary-themed design inspired by American literary works set on and around water, which is a modern take on the hotel’s original design concept and also incorporates the property’s close proximity to the Potomac River. The new Ashlar Restaurant and Bar is a 50-seat upscale tavern and cocktail bar that also provides all food and beverage for meetings and events held at the hotel. There is over 2,800 square feet of meeting space, including the new 985-square-foot Watermark Ballroom and the smaller Chapter Ballroom.
Pennsylvania
The Philadelphia Marriott West unveiled its renovation and redesign. The project included its 286 guest rooms, featuring new furniture, decor and remodeled bathrooms. The suites now have a wet bar, living area, work area and bathrooms with two sinks. The hotel’s Concierge Lounge also features new design and decor. The property offers nearly 12,500 square feet of meeting and event space, including 11 meeting rooms and a 4,840-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate 800 guests.
Quebec
Courtyard Quebec City debuted with the brand’s new contemporary room design. Modern artwork and architectural elements were added in its 160 guest rooms as well as the replacement of the traditional work desk with a light desk on wheels, allowing guests to work from anywhere in the room. The lobby offers media pods and a variety of seating for meetings or gatherings, as well as Le Commisariat, a restaurant and bar featuring food and drink from Quebec. The hotel offers 3,000 square feet of meeting space and a 1,500-square-foot banquet hall, both with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The nine-story hotel is situated in the city’s Lebourgneuf district, 10 minutes from Old Quebec and Jean-Lesage International Airport.
