News Brief: Radisson Blu Royal Hotel

A Norwegian tapas restaurant and a sky bar atop a landmark building are just two new developments that are part of Rezidor Hotel Group’s nearly $125 million overhaul in the Nordic region.

The company is focusing on guest room, public space and conference facility renovations to key Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson properties in the region. The company also is elevating the hotels’ restaurants and bars through menu revamps and design transformations.

“Our goal is to provide an even better hotel experience for our guests. The hotels will look better, the food will taste better and the service will be further enriched,” said Tom Flanagan, area vice president for the Rezidor Hotel Group in the Nordics.

The 215-room Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Stavanger, Norway, which has already completed renovations, added 26 North Restaurant & Social Club, specializing in Norwegian tapas.

“26 North Restaurant & Social Club is inspired by the Nordic countries, their nature, the culinary treasures and design,” explained chef Kristoffer Ingemansson of 26 North Restaurant & Social Club. “The Norwegian tapas are served on boards, giving the guests several unique taste experiences.”

Atop the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo  is the new Summit Bar. The 21st floor space offers views of the capital city and the back wall of the bar was designed to give guests a 360-degree vista.

“We wanted to create the best sky bar in Oslo where people can come and enjoy cocktails in a sophisticated, chilled-out atmosphere,” said Tomi Merilainen, general manager of the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo. “Businesspeople, trend-hunting locals and hotel guests can enjoy the best of our city and experience the magnificence of standing on top of a mountain.”
