Heading into its sixth year, IMEX America’s 2016 program is adding a number of new twists to strengthen its position as the preeminent North American meetings show.
Tech-powered peer-to-peer matching and networking will figure large at this year’s event, held Oct. 18-20 at Las Vegas’ Sands Expo.
“We’re trying to make the show as effective and efficient as possible, and utilizing technology to do so,” said Carina Bauer, president and CEO of the IMEX Group, describing the use of the Zenvoy matching app that will facilitate interaction between buyers with common interests. “New in the hosted buyer lounge there will be a Networking Hub area that allows people who made introductions online to meet with each other, and there will be times outside of exhibit hours set aside to facilitate meetings and networking.”
After a successful Sharing Economy program at IMEX’s Frankfurt show, the theme will feature prominently on the education front in the form of panel discussions and conversations. Another key educational theme, Where Personal Meets Professional, will focus on well-being, work-life balance and developing a personal brand.
IMEX America’s Association Focus half-day program this year will feature a Leadership Stream facilitated by ASAE CEO John Graham and an Events Stream led by International Congress and Convention Association CEO Martin Sirk.
New last year, the Meditation Lounge will boast a broader focus in 2016, covering well-being but also offering meditation programs.
Finally, IMEX America is launching a new CSR program, Garbage Grabbers, which will take participants off the Strip to pick up refuse at local parks and nature trails.
