Hyatt Regency Maui Enhances Meeting And Event Space

Natural Light and Local Heritage Are Design Focal Points

LAHAINA, Hawaii  – Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa announces the expansion and update of the resort’s Monarchy Ballroom, transformation of a former garden to The Halona Kai event and social space overlooking the famed Ka’anapali Beach, and a new Regency Club Lounge. The debut of the resort’s expansion will be later this fall.

The Monarchy Ballroom will transform into an elegant and contemporary social event space that reflects the history and culture of Maui. Bold colors inspired by Maui’s dramatic sunsets and vibrant floral colors of the island, as well as a layering effect reminiscent of Maui’s long tradition of hand-woven goods, will create a truly authentic and dynamic design. The space will be enhanced with an outdoor entertaining area that can also serve as a VIP group entrance to the resort’s iconic Drums of the Pacific Lu’au. The ballroom will be over 18,000 square feet with the flexibility to be divided into seven breakout rooms, and will lead into an open-air pre-function space. The updated space will also offer improved lighting and air quality features to reduce energy usage.

A new, elevated outdoor event space named The Halona Kai event lawn, will offer panoramic views of Ka’anapali Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Located outside the resort’s Lobby level in the Atrium Tower and perched gently above the resort’s half-acre pool, the turf covered event lawn will be over 9,500 square feet with the capacity for up to 500 people for seated or cocktail events. Lush greenery and local flora will ring a permanent stage, and a peaceful koi pond nearby adds to the ambiance of the space.

Designed to provide guests a turnkey set up for presentation or wedding ceremonies, The Halona Kai event lawn will also offer state-of-the-art acoustic and audio- visual systems, and will be wired with 200 amp outlets, and data and television cabling.

The resort will introduce a new Regency Club Lounge later this fall. The 3,333-square-foot space will offer guests a comfortable and spacious lounge, as well as lanai seating with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the resort’s Oriental Gardens that feature wildlife, waterfalls and its Swan Lagoon.

The Regency Club Lounge will be flooded with natural light and appointed with comfortable lounge seating that nods to Maui’s long history of beautiful, handcrafted furnishings. Light colored and textured walls will reflect the day’s natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Regency Club offers daily complimentary continental breakfast, daily local and national newspapers, light snacks and refreshments throughout the day, and light hors d’oeuvres and Hawaiian-inspired desserts in the evenings.

The architect for the project is Los Angeles-based Houston/Tyner. The team specializes in luxury resorts, high-end commercial spaces and estate homes. Clear on Black, also out of L.A., is designing the interior spaces.
