What does your job entail?
Site selection services, planning the entire process of constructing conferences and tradeshows, as well as incentives.
Describe your recent meeting in Punta Cana?
We organized the Mellow Mushroom Pizza Franchise annual convention and tradeshow. They wanted a Caribbean location that also had nightlife and a casino, so the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana (HRPC) was the perfect fit. We were a bit skeptical regarding the all-inclusive mentality but much to our surprise it worked out perfectly. We were able to hold our group events privately and the F&B used for those events was part of our all-inclusive package. The resort did a wonderful job and the beaches are absolutely incredible.
What did your attendees seem to enjoy the most?
The relaxing atmosphere and the beaches, and the ability to order complimentary room service was a big hit as well.
Did you use a unique off-site venue for a gathering?
We entertained a few dinner guests at Jellyfish Restaurant, which was fabulous.
Are there any fun experiences you would recommend for groups meeting in Punta Cana?
Definitely the tours and excursions, including zip lining, snorkeling, scuba, golfing, and nightclubs located downtown.
How does Punta Cana compare to other places where you have hosted meetings?
I would rank this destination in the top five. The Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism is continually improving the destination by providing brand-new highways and airport terminals.
Would you return/recommend Punta Cana to other planners?
Yes, and as a matter of fact, we’re coordinating another franchise managers conference this month (April 2016) at the HRPC.
