MGM Grand Las Vegas Roadshow Recap: Eataly Chicago

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, a member of Associated Luxury Hotels International, recently brought its unique brand of hospitality to the Midwest. The property hosted 20 meeting planners at Chicago’s Eataly, an Italian-inspired marketplace and dining venue, for a delicious and enlightening evening spotlighting its ever-evolving appeal as a meetings and conventions destination.

“We are changing planners’ perception of MGM Grand Las Vegas as just an entertainment capital,” said MGM Grand Las Vegas Associate Director of Sales Zack Lucevic. “We are doing it in a fun, informal reception and intimate dinner setting in their own cities, with short talks throughout the evening about our amenities and space.”

Many of those features came as a surprise to planners who haven’t been to MGM Grand Las Vegas in a while or who had never visited—from more than 600,000 square feet of flexible meeting and conference space under one roof to top-tier amenities that can be incorporated into the business agenda. The list includes Cirque du Soleil’s KA; David Copperfield Theater; the renowned Hakkasan restaurant and nightclub; dining venues by celebrity chefs Joel Robuchon, Michael Mina, Tom Colicchio and Wolfgang Puck; a high-end spa; and the new Topgolf, an entertainment center and competitive golf driving range with 102 hitting bays, plus meeting space and a live music stage.

One of the most distinguishing features of MGM Grand for planners is Stay Well Meetings. Launched in 2014, the program has been a great success, featuring healthy environments for high-performance meetings and partnerships with wellness experts Deepak Chopra and the Cleveland Clinic. Highlights include nutritious food, circadian lighting and aromatherapy stations with guided meditation.

While MGM Grand delivers on the entertainment side, it’s also one of the most innovative—and healthy—places for groups to get down to business.

“We hope planners here take with them just one thing that’s different about the perception they had before of MGM Grand Las Vegas,” said MGM Grand Las Vegas Vice President of Sales Ernest Stovall.

Planners did just that, along with some unexpected gifts for those who answered quiz questions about the property correctly or were lucky enough to have their business card drawn for the grand prize: a trip for two to Las Vegas, including airfare, suite accommodations at MGM Grand, dinners at the property’s signature restaurants, VIP tickets to KA, admission to Hakkasan nightclub, spa services and entry to Topgolf.
