Joie de Vivre’s first East Coast hotel, The Hall is a bohemian-flavored boutique property set a block from the ocean in the heart of the Art Deco District. The 164-room hotel includes 10,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space, including a boardroom. Exclusively for groups is the Joy of Meetings program with activities and snacks for the team, along with environmentally friendly green meetings options. A casual courtyard eatery created by Top Chef alum Spike Mendelsohn reflects classic seaside cafes and beach bars from around the world.
SIXTY Hotels recently unveiled its first South Beach hotel, Nautilus, a 250-room oceanfront property converted from a hotel originally designed in the 1950s by famed architect Morris Lapidus. The hotel’s Cabana Club features a 1,900-square-foot saltwater pool, site of frequent weekend events, along with a 200-seat signature restaurant, Driftwood Room. Meanwhile, the Bridge Room is a 2,500-square-foot private meeting and event space hosting up to 200.
Renovations are underway at the Miami Beach Convention Center, where a $515 million makeover will add 150,000 square feet of new space that will include a new ballroom, new meeting spaces and a new kitchen. In addition, a 5.8-acre parking lot will be converted into a public park complete with canopy trees, a flexible lawn area, a food pavilion and a veteran’s memorial. Interior renovations are projected for completion in 2018, after which the exterior transformation will begin.
