Delish! East

We’ve all heard it before—the most important meal of the day is breakfast. The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Va., takes that seriously with the Breakfast of Champions, a group option that puts a twist on the traditional banquet.

Breakfast of Champions is a progressive breakfast that moves through the property, stopping at different venues for small, healthy bites that when finished make up a complete, power-fueled meal.

“The Champions Breakfast is a perfect way to inspire, engage and infuse the body with an antioxidant, nutritious way to start the day,” said Paula Safran, director of catering and creator of the event.

Groups can start in the ballroom prefunction area with a “starter” like Blueberry Granola Crunch Cake, then move into the auditorium for Smoked Carrot “Lox” on mini bagels, and then progress into The Living Room for Bison and Biscuit, which is local bison sausage on homemade biscuit with tomato jam. From there, The Black Olive Bar & Grill offers Bircher Muesli-cherry almond organic oats served in mini mason jars, and then on to another space for Quinoa Fruit Salad. Ending the tour, Savory Oatmeal with an egg is served outside during the warmer months.

Groups can arrange to end the experience with a gift such as whole-grain bread with organic peanut butter and local preserves.

The National Conference Center offers 917 guest rooms and 265,000 square feet of event space, including 250 meeting rooms and the 55,000-square-foot West Belmont Place Event Center.
