Bristol
Under new ownership by the Newport Hotel Group, the Bristol Harbor Inn completed a renovation of its 40 guest rooms that includes such touches as LED flat-panel televisions and limited-edition prints by local photographer Onne van der Wal. The property has meeting and event facilities for up to 200 guests.
Little Compton
Located on 2.6 acres at the tip of Sakonnet Point, the Stone House was acquired by The Newport Experience and reopened after a $12 million renovation. Built as a private residence in 1854 and operated as an inn since the 1920s, the boutique property features guest rooms, a private beach, restaurant and event space with a terrace overlooking the water.
Middletown
The Atlantic Resort Newport at Cambria Suites opened in October. The ocean view property has 143 suites, three banquet rooms, an expansive terrace, full-service restaurant and pool.
Newport
Marking its 90th anniversary in May, the Hotel Viking unveiled a renovation of its 209 guest rooms, lobby, spa and 13,000 square feet of meeting space, emphasizing natural light and maritime colors of blue, grey and taupe. The hotel also redesigned its signature One Bellevue restaurant and introduced new menus emphasizing small plates and home-style shared dishes.
The Newport Marriott completed a $35 million renovation and expansion that added a new restaurant with harbor views and new nautical-inspired decor for the 312 guest rooms. The hotel’s 24,800 square feet of meeting space received a technology upgrade and features that include a private video conferencing unit.
The Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina (www.newporthotel.com) recently upgraded its guest rooms and last year opened Saltwater Harborside Dining, featuring a harbor view dining room and alfresco dining overlooking the hotel’s 60-slip marina.
The Hyatt Regency Newport unveiled a refurbishment of its 257 guestrooms. It also made enhancements to its outdoor function space, including the lawn area surrounding its Waterfront Pavilion and clambake pits.
The Chanler at Cliff Walk, a restored 19th century mansion converted to a luxury boutique hotel, recently renovated its lobby and 20 guest rooms, including new paint, carpeting and bedding. The property offers indoor and outdoor event space for up to 200 guests.
Providence
The Hilton Garden Inn Providence opened in a waterfront location in the city’s trendy East Side. The hotel offers 137 guest rooms, 1,100 square feet of meeting space, full-service restaurant, fitness center and complimentary shuttle service to downtown.
The Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel, built in 1927 as a neoclassical-style Masonic temple, completed a two-year renovation designed to enhance its original architecture while adding contemporary touches. The project included the redesign and refurbishment of all 227 guest rooms, lobby, Capitol Boardroom and Club Lounge.
The 564-room Omni Providence Hotel completed a $15 million renovation in October of its guest rooms, lobby, meeting space and pool area.
Warwick
The Residence Inn Providence Warwick completed a renovation of all 96 guest rooms and public spaces.
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Warwick-Providence Airport recently renovated its lobby, 146 guest rooms and meeting spaces.
