More than 42 million Americans live with limited or uncertain availability of safe and nutritious food, so Omni Hotels & Resorts set out to put a dent in that number. The brand is well on the way with its Say Goodnight to Hunger campaign that has resulted in the donation of nearly 6.3 million meals since its launch in mid-2016.
“Local market leadership is a core value at Omni Hotels & Resorts. It’s a part of our culture,” said Peter Strebel, CMO, Omni Hotels & Resorts. “The brand and our associates are committed to integrating the local culture of each of its cities, and that includes caring for the communities in which the company operates.”
Say Goodnight to Hunger is a partnership with Feeding America, a network of 200 food banks across the U.S. that provide food and services through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. The initiative has allowed both Omni associates and guests to get involved and give back through volunteer work, donations and simply booking reservations online.
“Associates at each of our Omni properties have been actively involved with the food banks in their local markets, from food drive donations to special lunches for families in need to assisting the food bank staff with packing, unpacking and helping customers shop for food,” Strebel said. “To date, more than 4,000 Omni associates have volunteered nearly 5,500 hours of time.”
In addition to the many hands-on hours Omni associates spend volunteering, guests can also help the brand’s goal to help end hunger by booking stays direct at OmniHotels.com. For each direct booking, Omni pledges a donation to Feeding America. The program expanded to include group bookings with a special promotion last fall for meetings groups that resulted in over 800 signed agreements. In return, Omni donated over 1.2 million meals to Feeding America through Say Goodnight to Hunger.
