Throughout the hospitality industry, organizations are giving back. Following is a sampling.
- Teneo Hospitality Group hosts events across the U.S. and Latin America in which local meeting planners meet and network with Teneo member hotels and DMC representatives. In addition to food, entertainment and networking, attendees have the opportunity to help a local charity. There are more than 20 events per year, most of which focus on helping children in need, such as filling backpacks with school supplies or putting together toiletry kits that are then donated within the community.
- During the holiday season, each of the 13 Great Wolf Lodge properties across the U.S. built a life-size gingerbread house with gingerbread walls and lots of candy and frosting. Guests and visitors could dine inside for breakfast lunch or dinner and all proceeds were donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
- Hotel RL created Project Wake Up Call in order to make the communities where new properties open a better place to live and visit. The initiative is focused on preventing and ending homelessness, and each new property partners with a local charity. With a $100 donation to the partner charity in each city, Hotel RL will offer a complimentary one-night stay at a property of choice.
- The Hotel Del Coronado opened Skating by the Sea for the winter season, setting up an ice-skating rink right on the beach. The San Diego property donated a portion of ticket sales to Make-a-Wish San Diego as well as hosted special events for local Make-a-Wish families. http://hoteldel.com
