The 211-room Kimpton Hotel Palomar San Diego closed its gastro lounge, Saltbox Dining & Drinks, to make way for Mexican street food eatery Curadero. Along with the new dining outlet, scheduled to debut in early 2017, the 1,800-square-foot mezzanine level above the restaurant will transform into a flexible meeting/work space, named Arriba Room, adding to its 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The U.S. Grant, a Luxury Collection Hotel is in the final stages of a $13 million renovation. The historic hotel, first opened in 1910, recently underwent renovations to its lobby, meeting and event space, fitness center and all 270 guest rooms and suites. The Bivouac Ballroom and foyer and Presidential Ballroom and foyer, part of the hotel’s 33,000 square feet of meeting space, were refreshed with new lighting, carpeting and banquet menus.

Andaz San Diego unveiled a newly remodeled event space, The Gallery. Located on the lobby level of the Gaslamp Quarter hotel, the 2,200-square-foot space features a mural designed by local photographer Christine Finkelson and can accommodate groups from 10 to 200.

Pechanga Resort & Casino completed a renovation of 65 suites. The accommodations, which include 63 one-bedroom suites and two executive suites, were upgraded as part of a $285 million expansion that will add 568 guest rooms, a four-acre resort pool complex, two new restaurants, 70,000 additional square feet of meeting and event space, and a new two-story spa.

The Westgate Hotel debuted AquaVie, a spa and wellness club adjacent to the 223-room hotel. The $14 million four-level, 40,000-square-foot space offers fitness equipment, retail space and a 15,000-square-foot rooftop with a Junior Olympic-size lap pool, a hot tub and a relaxing lounge area. The full-service Spa at AquaVie is slated to open within the center this month.
