Eric Oxfeld // Executive Director
International Workers’ Compensation Foundation (IWCF)
Ormond Beach, Fla.
Describe your job.
We locate and contract for meeting space and guest rooms for our conferences. We conduct the promotional campaign and process registration for attendees, exhibitors and sponsors. Finally, we prepare the BEO (banquet event order) and coordinate on-site with the host facility.
What type of meeting did you hold?
We hold an annual conference in Raleigh that provides information, continuing education and opportunity for dialogue among participants.
Was anyone helpful in executing your event?
The Raleigh Convention Center sales staff is always helpful in making sure we have the right space for our event. The on-site event management staff is exceptionally good at making sure the setup fits our needs and that the sessions run smoothly. The contract AV and catering staff (we use American AV and Centerplate, respectively) work seamlessly with us. Last but not least, the Greater Raleigh CVB staff helps coordinate all of the foregoing and ensures that our attendees have information on all the attractions in Raleigh.
What do your attendees enjoy about Raleigh?
Raleigh has one of the nation’s best local restaurant scenes, with easy access from the convention center. Favorites include Poole’s Diner, Death & Taxes and Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, among others.
How does Raleigh compare to other cities where you have held meetings?
Raleigh is a regional center served by major airlines. Downtown is a short drive from the airport. Hotels and meeting space are excellent. The local restaurants are superb and varied. There are numerous cultural spaces in the downtown area, including Red Hat Amphitheater and the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, both located a short walk from the Raleigh Convention Center. These qualities make Raleigh one of the best places for a meeting.
