East Upgrades & Openings (April 2017)

Connecticut

The Courtyard by Marriott New Haven at Yale University completed renovations of its accommodations and public areas. Its 207 guest rooms now feature marble and granite finishes and the new lobby offers technology upgrades. The property is located adjacent to Yale University and near the Yale-New Haven Hospital. There is 1,600 square feet of meeting space, a business center, fitness center and the Bistro cafe open for breakfast and dinner.

Maryland

A Frederick hotel that has been part of the community for nearly 40 years reopened as the Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center. The 156-room property features nearly 13,000 square feet of event space, including a 7,700-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into six separate rooms and a 3,100-square-foot indoor courtyard that can accommodate up to 350 guests. There are plans to further convert the Frederick Event Center into a green meeting venue. The hotel also offers Casey’s Lounge, a 24-hour business center, indoor pool, fitness center and an on-site miniature golf course.

New York

The James Hotels announced its New York property is scheduled to debut in the summer. The James New York-NoMad will follow the May opening of The James West Hollywood-Sunset in California. The New York City hotel, located at 29th Street and Madison Avenue, features 344 guest rooms and 4,500 square feet of meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom for up to 250 people and four private meeting rooms. John Meadow’s LDV Hospitality, a New York-based restaurant group, will be the food and beverage partner managing all in-room dining. It also plans to open a few new dining concepts on property.

Pennsylvania

Concord Hospitality will open Pittsburgh’s first Autograph Collection Hotel in the city’s Oakland neighborhood. The Oaklander Hotel will feature 167 guest rooms, a rooftop lobby with a lounge and restaurant, and 2,200 square feet of meeting space. There will also be an independent, street-level restaurant and coffee shop. The 10-story property is located near the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Carlow College and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and is expected to open in fall 2018.

Washington, D.C.

Washington Marriott Georgetown completed a multimillion-dollar transformation. The property-wide renovation included the M Club Lounge, the lobby Greatroom, a new food concept, the fitness center and its meeting space. In addition to upgrading 18 meeting rooms, the hotel added three new rooms, including the 4,800-square-foot Metropolitan Ballroom, bringing the property’s total meeting space to 22,000 square feet. The Visiteur is the hotel’s new restaurant specializing in small plates and cocktails. Along with the renovations, the property debuted the brand’s TED Talks program as well as Marriott Hotels’ Signature Bourbon Program.
